Trouw Nutrition Indonesia promotes Social Awareness Campaign about Importance of Protein for Toddlers

Trouw Nutrition Indonesia remains true to our purpose of Feeding the Future, as we address one of the most important public health concerns.  It concerns us when we look at the statistics provided by the government that Indonesia’s consumption for protein is still low compared to other Asian countries. It has also become a national issue that 1 out of 3 toddlers in Indonesia is stunting.

Trouw Nutrition Indonesia realizes that the core to this problem is lack of education, and we must do something about it! That is why we created a social awareness campaign and gathered around 400 parents and children at the beginning of Dec 2022 in Cibitung, West Java and Pasuruan, East Java to educate about the importance of protein and good nutrition for kids.

On the first day we visited kindergarten and lower primary school at Sekolah Melati Indonesia – Bekasi, West Java, followed by kindergarten school at PAUD Al-Kautsar, Pasuruan.  We invited a local pediatrician to explain what stunting is, how to prevent it, and the value of good nutrition including protein. Meanwhile, our GM - Wully Wahyuni, Area Sales Manager - Dwi Putri, and our Gut Health Program Manager - Susanto explained about the source of animal protein, why is it important, and myths and truths about egg and poultry meat. It was surprising to learn there are still many existing myths about animal protein amongst parents which impacts the consumption.

During the campaign, we also distributed more than 300kg of eggs and milk while actively engaging with children through fun games.  The campaigns included open discussions with the parents hoping that they will add more animal protein on daily food consumption and invest on their child’s nutrition and health. We aim to continue with more of these educational outreach campaigns in order to have a better future for Indonesia!
